What is Psychoanalysis?

Psychoanalysis

Psychoanalysis is an intensive psychotherapeutic treatment that extends beyond symptom relief, to develop a deep understanding of the patient’s inner life and, through this understanding, to improve the patient’s functioning in the world. During psychoanalysis, the patient and analyst meet four times per week, creating a confidential and safe relationship, in which the patient’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are explored in depth.
